Hey everybody! We've just had our first introductory session where we were also joined by fast.ai founding researcher - Jeremy Howard! For those who missed it, you can find this session on YouTube (shared below):
We've had a wonderful kickoff with over 900 signups and counting! I am truly excited to begin this journey with you and look forward to getting to know everybody for the next 20 weeks. As also discussed in the video, we will focus on finishing the book as a group and make sure that we understand key concepts before moving on to next chapters. This is a marathon and not a sprint.
Below, I answer some common questions related to fastbook reading sessions that I've been asked so far:
What is fastbook?
It is a hands-on guide for an introduction to deep learning written by Jeremy Howard and Sylvain Gugger. The first half of this book is also taught as 2020 version of the very popular MOOC studied by hundreds of thousands of students, from all walks of life, from all parts of the world - "Practical Deep Learning for Coders" by fast.ai!
What time are the reading sessions going to be hosted?
These fastbook reading sessions will be hosted at W&B every Wednesday 8pm PT, Thursday 1pm AEST/8:30am IST!
How to register?
Are the fastbook reading sessions going to be recorded?
How long is each session going to be?
Every fastbook reading session will run for approximately 60 minutes.
What can we expect in each fastbook reading session?
As a group, we'll be going through each of the chapters presented here. I, Aman Arora, as your host, will be presenting each chapter as a lesson - covering all major topics to help you with your understanding.
We are also joined by Sanyam Bhutani, Zachary Mueller and Tanishq Abraham who'll be around to present guest lectures on their amazing projects and also to answer all your fast.ai related questions!
