Hey everybody!
Not very long now before we begin our journey on fastbook! I just wanted to take the time to first welcome you all and say that I am truly excited to lead you on this journey of learning deep learning for the next ~25 weeks from fastbook.
Please also note that the fast.ai overview page has some really nice information about the fast.ai course that also applies to this fastbook reading group too.
This forum post contains instructions on how to setup your environments to be ready for fastbook reading group going forward. At the minimum, all you need is a laptop/or a desktop for that matter ;)

We had our first sessions with Jeremy last week where he shared some excellent information about fast.ai, fastbook, and also some time management tips in general! I also shared the reason for kicking off fastbook reading group at W&B!
You can find the recording here:

If you're still wondering whether this reading group is for you - let me just say there is no better time to start than today. We all have our commitments outside of work and I respect that - but if learning deep learning has been on your agenda for quite some time - then let's just get started and accomplish this goal together as a group. If you're willing to commit yourself to spend few hours a week every week, trust me when I tell you, the returns will be far greater.

FastBook Reading Plan

In case you missed it, you can find the plan for fastbook reading group at W&B in this forum post here.

How to setup? Do I need a GPU?

Jeremy recently posted "Lesson 0: Practical Deep Learning for Coders (fast.ai)" that goes through setting up your environments for the fastai course. This is also applicable for fastbook reading group.

Personally, I've found google colab to be the easiest way to start! Just click here and you can select any chapter that then gets opened up in a google colab environment. You also get GPUs for free! :)
There are also "more sophisticated" options such as using cloud servers like AWS, GCP, Azure, Jarvislabs that can be found here.
