Microsofts is now putting OpenAI’s tech to work, and deploying AI models within its business app portfolio. The company calls it their “next generation” of product updates, claiming 9 out of 10 workers hope to use AI to reduce repetitive tasks in their work, and OpenAI’s technology seems to be a likely solution to this pain point.
Specifically, Microsoft is integrating OpenAI’s generative AI with their Dynamics 365 business application suite and includes tools for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Enterprise resource planning (ERP). CRM software provides users with the ability to manage tasks like customer service and marketing, while ERP software focuses on integrating all of the finances of a business into a centralized location [1]. Microsoft calls the AI product Copilot, and it is being added to several of the applications within Dynamics 365.
A new Dynamic
Microsoft has integrated OpenAI’s tech with their Dynamics 365 Sales and Viva Sales applications which helps sellers reduce the time they spend on mundane tasks.
Microsoft's goal is to allow their software to help employees spend more time interacting with customers as opposed to mundane tasks like data entry and writing emails. Microsoft is also supercharging its Dynamics 365 Customer Service software with Copilot and says that the software will help businesses create customized interactive chat experiences that are tailored to specific knowledge bases, which should allow for a much more human-like experience for customers.
A New Era for Marketing
Microsoft is also adding functionality to help marketers and is using AI to allow the marketer to speak directly with the system, and get suggestions about additional customer segments and marketing campaigns. The system will recommend new email marketing ideas and can use the marketer's previous email campaigns as context for newly created campaigns.
In the Dynamics 365 Business Central Application, the company is allowing users to streamline product creation tasks, like description generation for e-commerce products. Finally, the company is adding Copilot to Microsoft Supply Chain Center, which will add features like predictive insights that allow for automating tasks like sending an email related to issues around financials or even weather, and ultimately alert impacted partners faster.
