Intro

Hey, I'm Emanuele! 👨🏻‍💻﻿
I am a first-year PhD student 📚 in neuro-inspired Deep Learning 🧠 among the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at the University of Trieste, part of the Applied Data Science and Artificial Intelligence doctoral programme.
Before that, I earned a M.Sc. in Data Science and Scientific Computing and a B.Sc. in Physics, both from the University of Trieste. 🎓
Currently, I'm applying deep learning methods more directly inspired by neuroscience and neuropsychology (mostly in the form of unsupervised generative modelling and implicit manifold learning) to the improvement of of efficiency, effectiveness, and adversarial robustness of neural image classifiers.
Other research interests of mine broadly include science and theory 🔍 of deep neural networks, trustworthy artificial intelligence without explicit specifications, kernel methods in deep learning, and computational neuroscience.
In my spare time, you can find me wielding a tennis racket 🎾, listening to music 🎧, or open-sourcing useless stuff (the first and the last usually not together 🙃).
