New funding and support opportunities have been made available for AI developers looking to make a change in the world - specifically, in tackling the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Google.org, Google's philanthropy arm, has put out a call for applications for their AI for the Global Goals program, a program aiming to solve the various goals for global development outlined by the UN.
One of the key aspects to this program is innovation and scalability; If you have a novel idea that targets any of the SDGs which is practical and realistic to produce, then you're what this program wants to support.
Apply to the AI for the Global Goals program
Applicants can apply starting today (September 15), and for priority consideration should submit their application by November 12. The primary applicant target for this program is registered non-profit organizations, though for-profit businesses may apply so long as their project proposal meets expectations and are willing to open-source IP created with the funding.
This time around, Google has $25 million prepared to deal out to prospective applicants; Recipients can request any amount of funding, though following the AI for Social Good program, could expect anywhere from $500K to $2M in funding.
