Machinima is an art form that goes back decades in computing history. With the rise of YouTube especially, creatives and gamers have been creating animated skits and stories using the characters and settings from the video games they loved to play.
NVIDIA has just announced today that they've set up a contest calling out to those creatives, a contest to make original machinimas using NVIDIA's Omniverse platform and assets from select games partnered with the project.
Contest details
Three games have been selected as the partners for this contest: MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, and Squad. Assets from these games will be available to use in the machinimas created for the contest, through NVIDIA Omniverse.
First through third place prizes include an array of three different laptops powered by NVIDIA RTX GPUs, each valued between $3,000-$3,500 USD each, with additional prizes for first place

Omniverse's powerful toolset helps the creative process
NVIDIA's Omniverse platform hosts a number of tools for artists and developers alike, providing powerful options to help create content. The aspect of Omniverse to focus on today is the Machinima app within it.
The Omniverse Machinima app lets you create and remix animated sequences and skits using partnered games, taking advantage of powerful RTX technology for photorealistic rendering and physics simulation, among other tools like voice processing and motion capture. Whether it's comedic clips or serious cinematics, Omniverse's Machinima app is a powerful tool for the job.
The Machinima app is currently in beta, but is publically available through the Omniverse app downloadable here: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/omniverse/download/
