The PyTorch Developer Podcast put out it's first episode in May of 2021, releasing episodes steadily until September of 2021. The podcast had not released a new episode until today, the 57th episode has been released.
Edward Z. Yang, the voice and producer behind the podcast, plans to release new episodes each week going forwards, and plans on experimenting with screencasting as well.
What's this episode about?
This short 15 minute episode of the podcast outlines the differences in PyTorch's two APIs, the regular PyTorch Python API everyone's familiar with, and PyTorch's ATen API which handles most of PyTorch's internal systems. Both APIs have their own use cases, strength, and quirks to contend with.
An additional third API was plugged towards the end, the PrimTorch API, an even lower level API than the ATen API focussed on compilers and symbolic analysis.
