Stability AI has become the go-to company for open-source and open-access AI projects. With stand-out releases like Stable Diffusion bringing powerful AI image generation tools to the public, not only for local use but for local development, Stability AI pushes AI forward with the highly collaborative methodology of open-source.
There's a clear value to be seen in the way Stability AI is working with AI and the developer community, and that's why they've announced a seed funding round of $101 million.

This seed funding round, just announced, was actually completed back in August, around Stable Diffusion's launch. Regardless, the funding round was collectively led by Coatue, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and O'Shaughnessy Ventures LLC.
As for what they're doing with the money: Stability AI will put the money towards the development of various AI model types, including "image, language, audio, video, 3D, and more", so keep your hopes up for some new, powerful AI models coming in the (hopefully) near future.
