In a press release published last Thursday, Uber Eats announced a 10-year long partnership with autonomous vehicle company Nuro to bring autonomous vehicle-based food and grocery delivery to new US locations.

The partnership will start with the rollout of autonomous vehicle delivery in Houston, TX and Mountain View, CA in fall of this year; The two companies intend to work towards serving the greater Bay Area as well.
Though this is not Uber's first dip into the autonomous vehicle delivery scene (first partnering with Motional for delivery in Santa Monica, CA earlier this year), the partnership is a stepping stone in the early phases of Uber's recent interest in the industry.
