Riding the wave of generative AI, Discord, partnering with OpenAI, is now integrating features for conversation summary. Discord servers will have Clyde, a bot that interacts much like a human.
It can talk, brainstorm, summarize past conversations, and has access to GIFs! It's like user/bot that supercharges the conversation.
Their AutoMod feature also saw a few upgrades. Released last year, AutoMod was intended to automatically moderate servers, but it was taken down because it could only moderate based on keywords and key phrases. With their OpenAI partnership, their AutoMod AI can enforce the server rules to any chat room within a server! This is certainly an upgrade from just detecting keywords.
They also plan on adding a whiteboard feature for users to join in a call together and doodle and draw with image synthesis tools. It's like a built-in midjourney bot!
A lot of companies are getting on the generative AI hype and they are quick to adapt these features to their pipelines and products. Just within a few weeks, Microsoft added a ChatGPT to Bing and now they are in the process of integrating it into the browser and all Microsoft products.
With more and more generative applications on the internet, the need for generative AI moderation (meta moderation!) is necessary. Not to mention, these systems consume a lot of compute power, and data. Maintenance and the MLOps world will be ever more crucial to successfully deploy these generative systems.
