In this AMA, we'll get to ask questions of Amanda Duarte. Amanda is a PhD candidate at Barcelona Supercomputing Center / Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. She is the first author on a paper, presented at CVPR 2021, introducing the world to the How2Sign dataset: "the first large-scale multimodal and multiview continuous American Sign Language Dataset". It's videos of folks using ASL to explain how to do various tasks (like get gum out of your hair) that you can use to teach neural networks how to understand sign language!
Amanda gives a great high-level overview of the dataset in this video from CVPR:
You can read more about and download the dataset from the website here, check out the CVPR poster, or read the paper.
