Coming soon: Registries in W&B Models

We're making it easier to track the important ingredients of model building and fine-tuning in Weights & Biases

Over the past year, we’ve seen significant adoption of the W&B Model Registry, as enterprise ML teams look to streamline their model management workflows and create a more seamless and efficient path and handoff point from experimentation to production.
As workflows and teams get bigger and more sophisticated, we’ve also heard feedback that users want even more from their registry. They need the ability to hand off a variety of assets—including models, datasets, and prompts—and share them across multiple W&B teams.
We’re very excited to announce the upcoming release of Registries, with multiple registries allowing for easy cross-team sharing across an entire complex enterprise organization.
Multiple Registries
In addition to the existing Model Registry, there will also be a new Dataset Registry available for users to centralize datasets, as well as create custom registries for other artifact types (such as Evaluations, Prompt Templates, or more). These will all be housed under Registries and give ML teams flexibility to create the registries that are right for their team.

Access Controls
To continue giving teams and users maximum flexibility with how they interact with Registries, users can have different roles and access for each registry. Admins can change a user’s role from member to viewer to restrict write-access across different registry types. A registry's visibility can also be adjusted from being accessible to the full org, to being accessible to just a small group of users.

Registries at Organization Level
Finally, registries will also be at the Organization level (unlike Model Registry which was set at the team level). Users will now be able to share Artifacts linked to a registry between teams. For organizations with multiple teams who need a smoother process to hand off artifacts, this change will make a big impact.

Registries will be available to private preview customers in mid-June, and will roll out to all deployments in the coming months. If you are interested in accessing Registries during the private preview phase, please reach out to your account team.
